How to choose a boiler engineer
For anything involving gas, the checks are non-negotiable. Before you book:
- Confirm the engineer is on the Gas Safe Register — you can ask to see the ID card
- For oil boilers, look for OFTEC registration instead
- Public liability insurance
- A written quote and, for new boilers, the warranty terms
- That any Gas Safety Certificate is provided in writing
- Reviews or references for similar boilers and systems
